Certified Behavioral Health Technician Course Information

Thank you for your interest in becoming a certified behavioral health technician. As a CBHT you will most often assist counselors and therapists by providing critical support services to patients who are receiving drug rehab, substance abuse or mental health treatment in a variety of treatment settings. With this certification you will be taking a huge step forward in your career in the addiction industry. Certified Behavioral Health Technician standards for certification.

Category: Requirement:
Degree: High School Diploma, GED or higher
Work Experience: 1,000 hours of direct experience in behavioral health.
Supervision:
24 hours which must include a minimum of 4 hours per performance domain. Remaining hours may be met in any performance domain.
Training: 30 hours of training allocated as follows: 

• Electives – 10 hours
• Clinical Competence – 8 hours
• Ethics and Professional Conduct – 4 hours
• Documentation & Patient Confidentiality – 4 hours
• Maintaining Client and Personal Safety – 4 hours

Written Test: CBHT Exam
