Aspiring substance abuse and addiction counselors in Texas may be excited to hear that their Florida Certification Board CAP (Certified Addiction Professional) level training can be reciprocated in their state. The Academy for Addiction Professionals offers online and distance learning options to those coming from us from out of state, making their path to certification that much smoother. Because of the Florida Certification Board’s participation in the IC&RC, future CAPs will have access to reciprocity in over 60 states, countries and territories around the world. In the future, Texas counselors may also be able to take continuing education classes through our online course delivery system.
The Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals should be contacted to understand the rules and regulations regarding distance learning, certification and reciprocity in Texas. As part of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals, The Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals certifies addiction counselors and monitors the ethical practices under their purview.
Eligibility requirements, reciprocity rules and other considerations should be understood and confirmed with The Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals before starting classes at our facility. Rules and regulations may vary between certifications and states.
Please contact the IC&RC and Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals to learn more about reciprocation between Texas and Florida. You will need to verify if the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals has any requirements that differ from the FCB and fully understand the criteria needed for certification and reciprocity. You can also contact us at any time to understand more about the reciprocation process and how states work with each other using the IC&RC as a facilitator and intermediary.
